  I played a concert at the church several years ago. The night of the concert the place was filled with recording equipment. I asked if we were going to be paid for a recording session. They said it was for the church's archive and would not be used for any commercial purposes. The next day they were selling cds of the concert. We were not paid for the recording and I was never again called to work there. I make my living as a musician, and the concert, sponsored by the church, had an admission charge. So much for the commandment "thou shall not bear false witness."

  I attended this church for several years and worked as a volunteer in the office. I quit after finding that all the minister preached about was that the Bible disputed itself and that it had many errors in it. He also claimed that every one, even non Christians, inherit salvation which is heresy. Many Sundays his sermons were only focused on accepting homosexuals as normal. This church is in apostasy. Bill Woods is an apostate minister. 1st Pres. is only a social club. He even had homosexualsworkingin the office. He does not teach the full gospel. May God bring judgement on Bill Wood so he begins to teach the true gospel as he is misleading his members and visitors. His openmindedness proves he has no relation to Jesus Christ.
  
  HE HATES JESUS CHRIST or he would condemn the satanic belief that homosexuals are normal. Anyone who thinks homosexuals are normal are mentally ill.

  Love this church. Great people. Inspired minister. Great sermons. Fantastic music. Worship service includes a cool mix of traditional and contemporary Christian music with both a choir and a band. Fabulous children and family ministry. Relaxed and casual "come as you are" style and vibe.

  I have visited First Pres Santa Monica several times with my family, and was filled with hope and happiness every time. Pastor Bill Wood is modern, compassionate and optimistic, and the dedicated members of First Pres feel like a family.
  
  I was appalled by the comment above, by Katherine McChesney. To discriminate against a minister because he accepts and supports people of all sexualities is an utterly un-Christian way to live life. Bill Wood is one of the kindest people you will ever meet - he embraces people of all walks of life.
  
  Having attended a more ‘traditional’ church as a child, attending First Pres Santa Monica was a breath of fresh air. Although traditional values hold true, this flock is not afraid to look the future in the eye and practice the teachings of the Bible with an open mind more suited to today’s environment: passion, preservation, love, family, and acceptance.

  We've been going to this Church for several years. Our 2 kids, 4 and 6, love Rebecca, the Sunday School teacher. She is fun, witty and loving. My husband and I are not "religious" -- kind of religiously challenged actually. But the Church is a welcoming group and they don't seem to mind that we just want our kids to be around kind people who care about others. Rev. Wood is super smart and extremely open-minded. Rev. Shelby is off beat and refreshing. Just a very close, lovely community of old and young alike (and they have some amazing older folks who act like teens and inspire the heck out of me). Great, great organization.
